Each of them has been widely appreciated as well, thus spurring the demand for newer versions of this digital book reader. Do check it out on Amazon and you will know why. More than thirty five thousand customers have purchased this on Amazon already. Overall, Kindle 3 has achieved a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is really an amazing feat.
Here’s a detailed Kindle 3 review. Read it to know about the various aspects of the Amazon Kindle 3.
Design
The Amazon Kindle 3 Keyboard with its soft-touch back coating and graphite paint really looks lovely. In fact, there is really not much of a difference between how the Kindle 3G and the Kindle 3 looks. Its dimensions are 7.5×4.8×0.3. It weighs 8.7 ounces, and so, it isn’t really as lightweight or small as the Touch. However this can be attributed to its QWERTY keyboard.
The On/Sleep/Off slider in your Kindle Keyboard is located at the bottom and is really convenient to use. Buttons at the lower portion and the sides have been streamlined. Thickness of the page turn buttons are just 0.2 inches. Some people feared that the Amazon Kindle 3 would be difficult to use because of this. However, all the four buttons are very firm and they give you a sturdy feel. The Previous and Next page buttons are located at the side. This means, you can use them easily on your Kindle 3, whether you are a right-hander or a left-hander.
User Interface & the Kindle Keyboard
The interface works and even looks almost the same as the previous version. Read your Kindle 3 review, and you will know that there are some changes though in the textbook rentals and the library lending features. But these changes are at the Kindle Store end, and not on the gadget itself. The Amazon Kindle 3 can be easily updated by upgrading the software to 3.3. You will be able to get this done automatically when you connect through the Wi-Fi. However, if you are not able to do this for whatever reason, then you can download it to the PC, plug in your device and transfer through a USB. All that’s needed is a drag and drop.
There is no joystick in this Kindle 3. Instead, there is the directional pad here. You will find this just next to your keyboard. Arrow keys in this gadget are extremely narrow.
Display & Reading Experience
Of course, if you have the Kindle 3, then your main purpose will always be reading books. Its 6 inch e-ink display and the 800×600 pixel resolution of the screen make it a breeze for you. Those who have published their Kindle 3 review about this gadget all agree that this particular device scores over the Nook in this aspect. The screen of this Kindle 3 and the Nook however look much the same. The use of e-ink display technology ensures that reading on your Amazon Kindle 3 is really easy. You can read easily when you are outdoors, even under the sunlight directly. There is never any glare. The images in your Kindle Keyboard or Kindle 3 are really crisp and clear as well. Read a Kindle 3 review and you will see that everybody agrees on this.
Just like the older versions, here too in this Kindle 3, you will be able to choose from three typefaces (condensed, sans serif and regular) and eight font sizes. There’s another great feature in this version. You will be able to shorten spaces between words, and this gives you additional text on a page. Its electronic page turner works quickly without any flickering. It works better than the Nook on this.
Your Kindle Keyboard allows you to read in English, French, Italian, German, Brazilian Portuguese or Spanish.
